      The Story

The Gilded Fern Stem takes the delicate, feathery structure of fern foliage and gives it an entirely different presence in gold. Fine leaflets travel along slender branching fronds, creating layers of intricate detail without making the stem feel heavy. The metallic finish catches the light differently as each branch turns, so some areas appear softly burnished while others have a brighter golden gleam.

At 36 inches, it has enough height and reach to make an arrangement feel more expressive, but what makes this stem especially interesting is the way the fronds naturally arch and trail away from the center. It feels botanical and sculptural at the same time—a stem that can bring a touch of gold into an arrangement without relying on glitter, oversized leaves, or traditional holiday foliage.

      Design Function

A movement and filler & texture stem that introduces fine branching detail, graceful extension, and metallic contrast while keeping the arrangement open and airy.

      The Faux Floral Standard

Our traditional faux stems are selected for the design value they bring to an arrangement—interesting shape, useful color, textural detail, and the ability to create combinations that would be difficult to achieve with fresh botanicals alone.

The Gilded Fern earns its place through its branching construction and unusually fine foliage. Rather than creating a solid block of gold, the narrow fronds allow light and open space to remain visible between each branch. Its wired construction is equally important: the individual sections can be opened, curved, lifted, or allowed to fall more dramatically depending on the direction the arrangement needs.

The result is a decorative botanical that can be used subtly among flowers and greenery or allowed to become the defining element of a more sculptural arrangement.

      How to Style It

      Stem Count:
Use 1 stem as a metallic accent within a mixed arrangement, 3 stems for an airy gilded botanical moment, or 5–7 stems when creating a fuller sculptural arrangement in a larger statement or wide-mouth vase.

      Vase Recommendation:
Works in everyday, statement, narrow-neck, wide-mouth, and standard-opening vessels. A narrow-neck vase gathers a few stems into a taller, cleaner composition, while a statement or wide-mouth vessel gives the long fronds room to arch outward and show their shape.

      Arrangement Role:
Functions as both movement and filler & texture. The long branching lines carry the eye outward and upward, while the fine fern-like foliage adds detail between larger flowers, leaves, and branches.

      Pairing Approach:
Let the gold act as an accent rather than trying to match everything around it. Cream, burgundy, plum, olive, black, and deep green give the gilded finish contrast, while softer blush and muted floral tones can take it in a lighter direction for spring and summer.

      Placement Idea:
Use several stems in a tall vase on an entry console or dining table, let one extend beyond a mixed floral arrangement for an unexpected flash of gold, or style a few stems alone in a sculptural vessel when you want the branching form itself to become the feature.

      Quick Styling Formula:
Gilded Fern + Burgundy Magnolia Tree Stem + Black Eucalyptus + Burgundy Allium = a fall-to-holiday arrangement with fine gold detail, deeper botanical color, and strong directional movement.

      Where It Works Best

      • Entry consoles
      • Dining tables
      • Fireplace mantels
      • Coffee tables with taller vessels
      • Statement arrangements
      • Holiday floral designs
      • Year-round metallic botanical arrangements

      Mel’s Styling Take

Gold can get too formal very quickly, which is why I like the looseness of this fern. The branches don't behave like a perfectly arranged metallic pick—they reach, bend, and fall in different directions. I would take advantage of that and really open the stem before putting it into the vase.

I also wouldn't save this one just for the holidays. One gilded fern tucked into spring florals can be beautiful, and in summer I love the idea of it against fresh green foliage. Then once fall and winter arrive, you can deepen everything around it and let the gold become more noticeable.

      Pairs Well With

      • Burgundy Magnolia Tree Stem
      • Black Eucalyptus Stem
      • Burgundy Allium Stem
      • Plum Cimicifuga Ramosa Leaf Branch
      • Green Olive Leaf Spray

      Good to Know

      • 36-inch individual decorative stem
      • Fine fern-inspired branching creates an airy appearance
      • Wired construction allows the branches to be gently reshaped
      • Gold finish provides metallic contrast without requiring a dense arrangement
      • Can be styled alone or incorporated into mixed floral designs
      • Suitable for year-round and holiday decorating
      • Gently open and reposition the fronds after unpacking

      Also Available In

      • Gilded Baby’s Breath Stem
      • Gilded Magnolia

      Climate & Care Considerations

Designed for indoor use. Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat, which may gradually affect the deeper burgundy and orange pigments.

Avoid bathrooms, steamy rooms, damp basements, covered outdoor areas, and other moisture-prone environments. In humid regions, particularly the East, Southeast, and Gulf Coast, store and display the bundle in a climate-controlled interior space whenever possible.

Because richly pigmented faux materials can potentially transfer color when exposed to moisture or prolonged contact, avoid resting damp stems against light-colored fabrics, porous surfaces, or delicate finishes.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth or cool air on a low setting. Do not rinse, soak, or submerge. Store with enough space around the blooms to prevent the petals and larger leaves from being crushed.
